Immigration Evaluations
Comprehensive, bicultural assessments tailored to support your legal journey.
I provide mental health evaluations for immigration cases via secure telehealth, with a focus on trauma-informed, clinically sound assessments that support legal proceedings. Services are offered in English and Spanish, and interpreter services can be arranged for other languages.
I have extensive experience working with survivors of trauma in legal settings, including conducting evaluations for individuals seeking relief under VAWA, U Visas, and T Visas.
As a Senior Case Manager with the Legal Aid Society at Metropolitan Family Services Chicago, I worked closely with attorneys and clients to document the psychological impact of trauma related to domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other forms of victimization. My role included completing comprehensive assessments, developing detailed clinical documentation, and supporting cases throughout the legal process.
This background allows me to provide thorough, well-documented evaluations that are both clinically rigorous and aligned with the needs of immigration proceedings.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
An immigration evaluation is a comprehensive mental health assessment conducted by a licensed clinician to support an individual’s legal case. These evaluations are essential for documenting an applicant's psychological state, detailing any history of trauma, and explaining the long-term mental health challenges tied to their immigration journey.
-
The evaluation is typically completed over two 90-minute sessions, followed by preparation of a detailed written report. This structure allows for a thorough and thoughtful assessment while giving you space to share your experiences at a comfortable pace. In some cases, the format may be adjusted based on individual needs.
-
Yes. Your information is kept confidential and handled in accordance with professional and legal standards. With your written consent, the final report can be shared with your attorney.
-
No evaluation can guarantee the outcome of a legal case. However, a thorough, well-documented evaluation can provide important clinical support for your application.
-
Immigration evaluations are private-pay services and are not covered by insurance. Fees typically range from $900 to $1,500 depending on the type and complexity of the case. Payment plans are available.

Preparation is more about emotional readiness than "studying." Before your appointment, focus on self-care through relaxation techniques and lean on your support system for encouragement. During the evaluation, you will participate in a clinical interview and possibly some psychological testing to assess your mental well-being. Afterward, plan for "down-time" to rest and recharge. Most importantly, choose a therapist who is specifically trained in immigration evaluations and, ideally, someone who speaks your native language or can provide a professional interpreter so you can share your story comfortably and accurately.
